Second Trimester (4-7 Months)

These are the classes we recommend that you take during your second trimester:

Infant Development (0 to 12 months)

Your baby is a living, growing miracle. Discover the changes that will take place during the first year of your baby’s life.

Prenatal Exercise

You started exercising during your first trimester. Let’s keep moving. It’s great for you and your baby. We do this twice a month. Wear your most comfortable shoes, and come have fun with other pregnant women. Join us for a class of prenatal exercises. Workouts last 40 minutes. During the last 15 minutes, we have cool-down time.

Learning to Breastfeed

Do you plan to breastfeed? Concerned about what happens when you go back to work or to school? This class explores these questions and the advantages of breastfeeding for you and your baby. Certified lactation specialists teach you the basics of breastfeeding, including the best way to hold your baby. Learn how to position your baby to avoid discomfort or problems while he or she feeds. You’ll also find out how to use a breast pump. Hospital-grade breast pumps will be available for rent.

This is also the best time to register for the Lamaze – Prepared Childbirth Course to be taken during your third trimester.

Cesarean Birth and VBAC

Learn about cesarean births and vaginal birth after cesarean delivery (VBAC). Understand what a c-section is and when it makes sense for the mother and baby. After a c-section, is it healthy to have a vaginal birth? You’ll get the answers in this class. Find out the benefits and risks of a VBAC delivery. The EPFMC nurse-midwives are specialists in VBAC.
